Greg Steele, a fourth-generation Andersonian born and raised in Linley Park, has declared his candidacy for the District 6 seat on the Anderson City Council. As a longtime resident and owner of Steele Family Law, LLC, Steele hopes to bring his strong connection to the area and understanding of local issues to city governance. If elected, Steele has pledged to manage future development responsibly while reinforcing safe neighborhoods and fostering a sense of community around shared public spaces.
'From a young age, my parents showed me the importance of giving back to the community that raised you,' said Steele. 'Now, I want to take that passion for service to the city council level to ensure Anderson retains the small-town values and personality our citizens hold dear while welcoming appropriate progress.' Steele's interest in law and public service was sparked by watching his father, esteemed County Magistrate Judge William P. Steele Jr., preside over courtroom proceedings as a child. His mother Marietta, who worked as Judge Steele's head paralegal, also emphasized the importance of empathy, ethics, and treating people right.
After graduating from Oakwood Christian School and attending Covenant College in Georgia, where a political science class made running for office seem attainable, Steele returned to Anderson to open his family law practice. The firm focuses on providing personal, attentive counsel on matters related to family law and estate planning. If elected to the city council, Steele has outlined key priorities including preserving neighborhood integrity amid growth, championing public safety initiatives, creating inclusive community gathering spaces, and maintaining an open dialogue with constituents.
'Ultimately, I'll take the approach I use with clients to the city level – truly listening to needs, seeking creative solutions together, and fighting tenaciously for the community,' Steele remarked. With his personal background, professional experience assisting locals through sensitive legal matters, and family's reputation for community service, Steele aims to leverage his robust Anderson roots in his first political campaign.
